Experience all that Montana fishing vacations have to offer with Rodney Campbell, a third-generation Montana native. Rodney has been fishing Montana waters since 1964 and guiding in southwest Montana for the past 21+ years. He will use that experience and knowledge to find you the most fishable water and give you the best possible fishing trip. As a licensed Montana outfitter #1633, he is both professional and conscientious. Rodney is active in river conservation and practices catch and release fly fishing and is also a certified EMT. Rodney has a wealth of knowledge about regional history and the area’s wildlife that he looks forward to sharing with you.
The Rivers The Yellowstone River The Yellowstone River, Rodney’s favorite, is the longest free flowing "wild" river in the continental United States. It flows 670 miles with no dams. The float through the Paradise Valley is one of the most scenic in Montana. This river offers four fish species: native Yellowstone Cutthroat, native Mountain Whitefish, Rainbow Trout, and Brown Trout.
The Missouri River This huge river fishes like a giant spring creek and has been the best fishing in Montana for the past several years, with rainbows being caught in the three pound range. Spend two days fishing and one night while fishing the "Mighty MO". There are many nice places to stay near this river.
The Madison River The world renowned Madison River is separated into two sections, the "Upper" and the "Lower", together totaling about 120 miles of excellent trout habitat. Each section fishes very differently, depending on the time of year. The Brown Trout fishing has been good the past few years.
The Gallatin River The upper portion of this small river is a great wading stream with an abundant population of 12" Rainbow Trout. In the lower, floatable section, fish for Rainbows and big Browns. This is a classic, freestone trout stream.
The Big Hole River Is a wonderful river to fly-fish!
Many other waters are also available. Ask Rodney about, the Big Horn, Bitterroot, Smith rivers, and private spring creeks and trophy trout lakes. There are many options, and Rodney can find good fishable waters anytime of year.
