Overview

Welcome to some of the finest freshwater fly fishing that the world has to offer.
A two-hour flight southwest from Buenos Aires lies the Northern Zone of Patagona, Argentina. Breathtakingly beautiful and vast, it is a land of condors and gauchos, mountain streams and midnight asados (BBQs). Some of the most famous rivers in Patagonia, the Traful, Malleo, and Chimehuin Rivers, flow within the Northen Zone. These rivers begin along the forested spine of the Andes and then run into broad unspoiled valleys before finally losing their gradient and heading out into the dry steppes of the Pampas.

This corridor along the eastern side of the Andes has provided to be an ideal trout habitat since Mc-Cloud strain rainbows, brown trout, brookies, and Atlantic salmon were introduced in the early 1900s.

They flourished in the rich waters, reproduced naturally, and an incredible fishery was created. With the conversion of family held cattle estancias (ranches) into first-class fishing lodges, the remote glacier and spring-fed waters of Northern Patagonia became accessible. Trips are normally organized into three to five-day stays, fishing private water, and enjoying the comforts of Argentine hospitality. The rivers are a five to fifteen-minute drive from the lodges, so your time is not spent bumping down dirt roads for hours on end as is common in other parts of Patagonia.
