Day 1: Pick up from Edinburgh airport and transport to Hotel du Vin Edinburgh, the city's newest and most stylish boutique hotel located in the historic Old Town. Cocktail reception and welcome meeting. In the evening, visit the Sheep Heid, the oldest pub in Scotland, followed by dinner at a grand private residence in historic Duddingston Village. With advance notice, River & Green can arrange private access to Edinburgh's leading game fishing tackle shop after arrival.
Day 2: Fishing a prime stretch of the magnificent River Tweed then returning to Edinburgh for dinner at one of the city's finest award-winning restaurants with views to Edinburgh castle.
Day 3: Head north to fish the mighty River Tay, arriving in the early evening at one of Scotland's most exclusive country house hotels, Ballathie House, on the banks of the river in the heart of rural Perthshire. Dinner in the elegant dining room overlooking the river.
Day 4: Following breakfast, head north again, onto Royal Deeside to a privately arranged tour of the Royal Lochnagar Distillery, located close to the Queen's country residence at Balmoral. Following lunch in Ballater, drive on to the private Forbes Castle in the heart of Aberdeenshire, seat of the chief of clan Forbes. In the afternoon, there is the option of trout fishing on the Don or clay-pigeon shooting. Dinner is served in the grand banqueting hall in the company of your hosts (private schedules permitting).
Day 5: Fishing on a private stretch of the highly productive and beautiful River Dee, riverside lunch and return to Forbes Castle to relax, savor rare malt whiskies, and dine again by the open fire.
Day 6: Fishing on the famous River Don with lunch by the riverside. In the afternoon, drive past castles and lochs and over the peaks of the Cairngorm Mountains to the intimate, four-star Moorfield House in Boat of Garten village on Speyside. Dinner is taken at the Boat Hotel, a short walk away, beside the historic steam-railway line.
Day 7: After a hearty Scottish breakfast, drive the short distance to the secluded stretch of the River Spey and the famous Kinchurdy pool. For lunch, BBQ by the riverside hut, returning in the evening for dinner at the Moorfield House. For those with an unquenchable appetite for fishing, River & Green can arrange to return to the river in the late evening.
Day 8: Return to Edinburgh airport, stopping en-route at the prestigious House of Bruar for the opportunity to purchase the finest quality Scottish gifts.
