This trip will take you to the headwaters of the Yellowstone and Thorofare Rivers - into one of the most remote areas of the famed Teton Wilderness. Both fly fishing and lures work on these hungry natives. Yellowstone Outfitter’s fishing pack trips are scheduled during the later part of June, all of July, and August. This is due to the fact that during this period, the spawning Cutthroat Trout are most abundant. Thus, you can be assured of a successful catch.
To reach the fishing camp entails a full day of riding on gentle trail horses, through alpine meadows following the Buffalo River, over the Continental Divide, through Two Ocean Pass and the parting of the waters, and drops you into the Yellowstone River Country. Twenty-eight miles and eight hours later including lunch and break stops, you will arrive at the camp on the Yellowstone Meadows with the beauty of Yellowstone Park in the background.
There are miles of streams and rivers to fish. Bridger Lake is just two miles from camp. You can ride for two hours and fish all day, or you can walk five minutes from camp and fish all day. This trip is for fishermen of all ages. Fish can be taken on fly-rod as well as spinning outfits. You will be fishing for, and catching, Yellowstone Cutthroat Trout in the 14-19 inch, 2-4 lb. class. (Catch and Release Only)
